2016 Athletic Hall of Fame

The West Memphis School System is announcing the 2^nd annual West Memphis Athletic Hall of Fame. 

This year’s banquet will be in the Starting Gate Event Center at Southland Park on Thursday, September the 15^th at 6:00.  Tickets are on sale for $25 each or $250 for a table of 10.  Each sponsor will have a table reserved in their name for the banquet.

The inductees will also be presented on Friday night at the West Memphis vs LR Central Football game at Hamilton-Shultz field.

This is a huge honor for the inductees and it will show our pride in each of them and their accomplishments. 

We have 3 categories: Bronze-$500, Silver-$750, Gold-$1000. Each sponsor will receive tickets for a table of ten and advertising in our program.  I hope you are able to help us with the cost of this banquet to honor these former WM athletes on this special night.

2016 Inductees:  Bill Kessinger –coach and administrator from 1962-2013, Clayton Wynne (1934), Jocelyn Love (2003), Coach Grafton Moore (1964, Head WM FB coach from 1978-2000) and the 1963 Undefeated and unscored on in Conference FB Team

2015 Inductees:  Marcus Brown (92), Michael Cage (80), Lewis Carpenter (49), Ike Harris (71), Reginald Jones (87), Keith Lee (81), Mike McCoy(72), Sonja Tate (89) , Coach Bill Terwilliger (70-84)

NEW Construction - NOTES

A great deal of change is happening at West Memphis School District.  Six of the twelve student campuses are under construction for renovation or new builds.  A new Bragg Elementary campus is being built behind the current facility (opens August 2017).   Electrical upgrades will be complete by 8/15/2016 at Faulk, Maddux, Richland, and Weaver elementary campuses, as well as, the Academies of West Memphis High School.  Maddux Elementary and the Academies of West Memphis have had additional interior renovations that will also be complete before students return August 15, 2016.

Improving learning environments is great news for our students, staff, and community  With change, we must adapt.  Therefore, WMSD would like you to be on the lookout for upcoming posts about vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow for certain campuses.  For 2016-2017 school year, changes in dropoff/pickup and entry/exit routes should only affect Bragg, Faulk, Richland, and Weaver elementary.
